In the days leading up to your wedding, the last thing you want is to be called a “bridezilla,” but sometimes stress is unavoidable in planning something as big as your own wedding day. However, too much stress can be harmful to you, both mentally and physically. So before you start feeling overwhelmed, take a deep breath and think about some of these ways to relax and calm your mind.

Work It Out

Exercise could be the last thing on your mind if you’re stressing about wedding details, but it is one of the best ways to de-stress! Endorphins released from exercise are known to decrease stress levels and boost positive energy. Yoga is a popular form of exercise that focuses on breathing and anyone can pretty much do it, but if you don’t feel like bending into a downward dog, you can easily take a short walk around the block or go for a quick jog.

Free Your Mind

Save all your ideas, plans and feelings from jumbling through your mind and let them out! Venting to a girlfriend is an easy, healthy way to relieve stress. Expressing your thoughts can also give them a better idea of how to help you organize things to your taste. Isn’t that what bridesmaids are for, anyways?

Take a Breather

When you have a whirlwind of continuous errands planned for one day, make time to pause and take a break in between tasks and just breathe! Feeling rushed to get through one fitting, onto a meeting and to a hair consultation can cause major mental stress, but stopping to take a few deep breaths can help relieve your mind. Just five minutes of deep breathing can slow your heart rate and prepare you for your next task.

Pamper Yourself

There’s nothing quite like indulging in a mani/pedi day! Plan a day that falls in between your most stressful days to pamper yourself and ease your mind. Invite your bridesmaids over to relax with facials or take a personal day to catch up on sleep or soak in a bubble bath. Sweet-talking your fiancé into a massage is even a great way to relax and bond before the big day!

Smile, Laugh, & Stay Positive!

One of the best things you can do to avoid stress is to maintain a happy attitude. Just thinking about all of the great things coming your way should boost your mood and keep you from sweating the small stuff. Besides that, you’re marrying someone you love and who is going to stand by your side through thick and thin! What’s better than that?
