The sofreh table was lavished decorated. Some of the many symbolic features of the sofreh were:

  • Ayneh va Shamdun – a mirror and 2 candleabras
    representing the couple & their bright future
  • Gol – flowers for beauty
  • Painted Eggs - representing fertility
  • Sangak – Persian flatbread for prosperity
  • Nabat – crystallized sugar for sweetness
  • Asal – honey that Asra and Mani fed to each other immediately after they wed for their first taste of married life
